Zehn Jahre nach dem ersten Europäischen Sozialforum versammeln sich vom morgigen Donnerstag bis zum Sonntag Europas soziale Bewegungen, Nichtregierungsorganisationen und Gewerkschaften wieder in Florenz, um Strategien gegen den Sozial- und Demokratieabbau in Europa zu entwickeln. Mehr als 3000 Aktivistinnen und Aktivisten werden zu "Florenz 10 + 10" erwartet. "Unser Ziel ist es, eine europaweit vernetzte Bewegung des sozialen Widerstands zu schaffen. Unser Treffen bildet den Gegenpol zum derzeitigen Europa der Banken, der Finanzspekulation und der Verarmungspolitik der Regierungen. Nur vereint können wir etwas erreichen", sagte Stephan Lindner vom Koordinierungskreis von Attac Deutschland in Florenz.

Das Programm bietet zahlreiche Vernetzungstreffen, Workshops, Plenardebatten, Kulturveranstaltungen und eine öffentliche Aktion im Zentrum der Stadt. Fünf Themengebiete werden dabei diskutiert:

• Finanzkrise/Austeritätspolitik/Schuldenkrise
• Demokratie
• Soziale Rechte/ArbeitnehmerInnenrechte
• Commons 
• Europa und die Welt

When, in 2002, the movements and European networks met in Florence to give birth to the first European Social Forum, the crisis was only the announced result of the analysis of the movements on the impact of the economic and financial globalization.
Today, the crisis is the reality we all live in.

This is why the European meeting "Florence 10+10/Joining forces for another Europe” do not want to be a celebration, but a gathering with two main goals: first, give a common answer - joining social forces at a European level - to the crisis and the policies imposed by the EU institutions and the ECB; second, creating alliances for a long term strategy that will allow to build a social Europe, the European citizen’s Europe.
